Are you currently an Undergraduate, Masters, or PhD student, post-doc researcher or professional seeking research partners and opportunities? Are you seeking local research partners such as NGOs or academic institutions, but are unsure of where to start? The Sundarbans is the ideal place to explore research interests and intellectual curiosities. In order to support those individuals who are dedicated to solving the ongoing and multifaceted challenges the Sundarbans Forest faces and uncovering the hidden science, we offer a variety of research and volunteer opportunities.
The efficacy of our work in the region relies upon the innovative findings of the research community which is why we are committed to supporting prospective researchers every step of the way with an abundance of resources. Through our SAVE (Scientific, Academic, Volunteer, and Educational) Tourism program, we support students, researchers, and volunteers looking to conduct field research or volunteer for an NGO in Bangladesh. We connect students, researchers, and volunteers with local universities, research institutions, and NGOs where they can seek out research partners and supervision. We also provide access to long-term living facilities and learning opportunities.
For young professionals seeking an engaging experience in Bangladesh outside of research, we offer unique field internships through our Destination Development Corps program where you can work directly on-site with the Greater Sundarbans Destination Management Organization and aid their efforts to create an inclusive and sustainable tourism value chain.
All research interests are welcome. Whether you’re interested in investigating the intricacies of the Sundarbans or want to understand how you can impact the growth of communities in Bangladesh through tourism, there is an opportunity out there for you.
