Additional investment and financing opportunities for tourism businesses and destinations are needed. The Bangladesh Ecotourism and Conservation Alliance is continuing to support key stakeholders in identifying opportunities to attract private investments to support conservation and local communities. The Alliance will facilitate investments in the tourism sector and advance business profitability by improving the efficiency, performance, and profitability of local tourism businesses and increasing access to finance for the private sector to invest in new CBT enterprises and/or green technologies. To improve the overall performance and profitability of the larger tourism supply chain partners, the project will assess and determine their training and technical assistance needs – from business planning and staff training to marketing and sales. To reach this larger, regional audience, the project will also develop an “e-learning” platform on the BECA website through which training and technical assistance can be more effectively delivered.
BECA will assist tourism businesses and entrepreneurs including women entrepreneurs and start-up business owners to access finance. The project with its subcontractor Conservation Capital will work to secure at least $1 million in new tourism investments. The following are investments that the project hopes to facilitate:
